Vita Nuda

Vita Nuda (latin for 'new nude life') is a network of young adult nudists that was formed in 2007 from an idea that emerged during that summer's AANR Youth Ambassadors Program. What started out as a simple idea became the spark that would grow into the young adult nudist movement that has swept across America now involving various groups and over 1,000 young adult nudists all around the world!!

The goal of Vita Nuda is to support and grow 'The Nude Revolution'. We do this through hosting events, social networking, creating educational videos, making cool shirts and helping others to start up groups of their own (links to the right).

Nudism Becomes Increasingly Popular in Greece

In Greece, nudism is becoming more acceptable than previous decades.

The majority of people seem to consider nudism acceptable, however there is still negative attitude and conservatism towards the it in comparison with other countries.

For example, on the island of Kimolos the Municipality decided to prohibit nudism in all the beaches of the island. On the other hand, nudism has become increasingly popular among younger generations.

Nudism is not be related to exhibitionism, or to the search for a sexual partner, as it is considered as an ideology regarding self esteem, freedom of expression, real contact with nature and nature worship.

Cape nudist resort will be ‘high-class’

Nudists have frequented Sandy Bay near Llandudno for years, but Voster, a naturist, says Cape Town is “screaming” for this type of resort.

Similar spas exist in Gauteng, North West and Limpopo.

He has teamed up with British couple Mark and Samantha Taylor, who have a similar resort, Vassaliki Naturist Club, in Greece.

The Vasnat South Africa Naturist Spa website shows a woman perched against a rock tanning au naturel. Also in the picture are an elephant and a lion, set against a backdrop of ocean and mountain.

California beach at center of fight over nudism

SAN DIEGO — Gold Beach, where generations of Marines have trained for amphibious assaults, is now the scene of another kind of battle.

The strip of sand on Camp Pendleton is the latest flash point between nudists and California state park rangers — with Marines caught in the crossfire.

The nudists say zealous state park rangers have followed them onto the federal property in an effort to cite them for violating the state's cover-up laws.

Market Opportunity: Nakationing is Growing Industry

Nude recreation and nude travel has grown into a $400 million global industry, the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) reports, suggesting solid market demand. And, the AANR says,  it has nearly 50,000 members and 270 clothes-free and clothing-optional resorts, clubs and RV campgrounds throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean that are continuing to welcome new members of varying ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

Nude recreation, or Nakation, is more popular than ever, says Trip Advisor, citing a new survey, released by Trip Advisor in its  2011 “nude beach survey results.” The survey reveals that  nearly half of Americans (49%) would bare it all at a nude beach (up from 48% in 2010, and 31% in 2009). Thirty two percent of respondents indicated they would not, while 19 percent remain on the fence about taking the skinny dip plunge, Trip Advisor says.

Male Nudity in Film

Sadly, American male full-frontals are usually meant to shock or elicit giggles, when Europe seems to just shrug a shoulder? Actors like Ewan McGregor, whose peen appears in, Trainspotting, Velvet Goldmine, Pillow Book and Young Adam, and Geoffrey Rush (Quills) have yet to balk at showing there bits off casually, however every time an American does it there is either tons of controversy surrounding the act, such as Vincent Gallo in Brown Bunny or Bruce Willis in Color of Night, (and it’s always disappointing) or it’s Jason Segal getting broken up with at his most vulnerable in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

That latter example was a brave display, however the subtext is missed by half because the situation is just too goofy. Both Richard Gere (American Gigolo) and Peter Sarsgaard (Kinsey) appear naked in American studio films with almost French-like casualness, however it’s still rare to see that in more than a handful of films a year. This is just ridiculous considering the amount of full-frontal nudity scenes actresses appear in just to garner attention from studios. As a woman I see no problem with visible bush in my films, I just wish the stigma surrounding male reciprocation wasn’t just so childish.

When it comes to bare beaches, Spain was one of Europe’s late starters, introducing its first one in 1979. But according to nudists' bible, The World Guide to Bare Beaches, Spain is “now amongst the most enthusiastic and progressive advocates of the bare beach lifestyle”.

Even in a nation as prudish as the UK, stripping off now seems to be the activity du jour. Maryland pool becomes hot spot for nude swimmers

Davidsonville, Md. (AP) -- The pool is the hot spot at the Maryland Health Society. And members don't worry about tan lines. MaHeSo, as members call it, is a nudist club. Lifeguard Teasa McClure says "it sure is great" not have to wear anything in the pool. But she tells a local paper (The Capital of Annapolis) she goes through a lot of sunscreen.

Breastfeeding article should help open people’s minds

Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to feed your child, and is recommended by most pediatricians and health experts. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding exclusively for a minimum of six months (up to one year), and the World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding up to two years.

Mothers should not feel guilty about the method they choose to feed their child (bottle or breast). Breastfeeding is not dirty or shameful.

Host of Jeopardy Alex Trebek Sleeps in the Nude

So you've heard about Alex Trebek chasing a burglar in a San Francisco hotel early Tuesday morning, right?

He will have surgery tomorrow because he snapped his Achilles tendon and injured his other leg in his daring take-down.

But what's capturing everyone's imagination is Trebek's description of what happened. "I woke up and saw a figure in our hotel bedroom and I thought I was dreaming," Trebek says.

"And I realized immediately someone had been in the room. I put on my underwear and ran down the hall to see if I could find her."

Said Matt Lauer in a random moment on Today this morning: "Alex Trebek sleeps in the nude?"

Comment: Indeed he does, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Are You a Nudist and Don't Know it?

Have you ever been skinny dipping, even as a child? Have you ever undone your top to get a better tan in the backyard or on the beach, even if you were careful to lay on your stomach the whole time? Where in North America Would You Like to See a Nude Beach?

Clothing optional vacations are becoming increasingly more popular every year. Nearly one out of every two people surveyed by TripAdvisor last year said they were willing to go au naturel on a nude cruise or at a nudist resort or nude beach.

The TripAdvisor survey also included the top 10 nude beaches recommended by members, including popular nudist spots like Black’s Beach in San Diego and Haulover Beach in Miami, plus eight more in  and outside of North America.

Women's topless court victory 20 years later

"The whole point is we have the right to divest ourselves of our tops.… It's not a moral issue. It's a civil rights issue," said Williams. "If a woman is hot and wants to enjoy the sun all over, why is it that she can't, while a man, who may have larger mammary glands, can?"

Williams, a retired teacher, said she occasionally goes topless "and no one blinks an eye" in Vancouver, where the practice has also been accepted after a court fight.

"Canada needs to grow up like our European brethren. There are enough oppressive laws and social mores that restrict our freedoms," she said.

The naked truth is, we're used to public nudity

In advertising, in entertainment, on Facebook, at the mall, for better or worse, skin is in.

"Nudity doesn't have the shock value," said Gary Moore, who has owned the Whispering Oaks Nudist Resort in Oxford for 33 years. He has been a nudist for 50 years and told me during our phone conversation that he was naked.

"At one time, nobody would say they were a nudist. Nowadays everyone says. Who cares? You don't have a social stigma to it that one time it did have. Nudism helped me to love my body at last

I pondered for a moment before heading towards two sun loungers by the pool, then said: ‘I think we should take our clothes off.’

Though nervous, I didn’t feel uncomfortable. Slowly, I slipped out of my clothes, and for one nerve-racking minute while I stood nude, I looked at others’ faces to see if they were laughing at my wobbly bits.

To my surprise, not a soul even so much as glanced my way.

‘Your turn,’ I said to Joe. His eyebrows raised, a grin crossed his face as he stripped off, too.

We arranged our towels before laying down and enjoying the sun. I felt an intoxicating rush of freedom. The sunshine on my bare skin was too delicious for words.

For so many years, I’d worried about what others thought of me. I suddenly realised what a huge waste of time that had been.

Do Canadians have the right to be naked?

Ordering a double-double in your birthday suit would likely get you arrested under Canadian law – but that could change, if an Ontario man gets his way.

Brian Coldin, a self-described nudist, is fighting criminal charges after being naked at a Tim Hortons and A&W in Bracebridge, Ont. He will appear in court on Tuesday to argue that public nudity should no longer be a criminal offence, according to The Canadian Press.

Do you think women should go topless at the beach?

In a beach etiquette survey of about 1,100 U.S. travelers by TripAdvisor, released this morning, 78% of respondents think toplessness is OK in destinations where it's culturally acceptable. That certainly goes against the stereotype of Americans as being prudish when it comes to public nudity.

The survey also found that 6% say "European" sunbathing is acceptable at any beach or pool.

Heidi Klum: "You're never too old to sunbathe topless"

But the 38-year-old mum-of-four has revealed that she's got no intention of covering up and will continue to sunbathe topless as she gets older.

"I love tanning my body and I don't love tan lines necessarily," Heidi told US website PopEater.

"I don't think too much about what other people think or if they think this woman is too old to wear just a bikini or a bikini bottom.

"I come from Europe so I'm not American. I grew up with men wearing Speedos on the beach and topless women on the beach at any age."
